Originally from Lisbon, Joana Froes joined our team in 2024. She has degrees in Political Science and International Relations. She is an avid nature conservationsist and re-wilding activist. 

Originally from South Africa, but with Portuguese parents, Claudia leads our first and second grade class. She has a background in teaching children with special needs.

Miriam is an English teacher that was born and raised in Kenya to Dutch parents. She studied education in the Netherlands and has since worked in Democratic Schools there.

WIth a B.A. in Primary School Education with a focus on special needs, and a MSc.  in Social Research & Development and Socio-Educational Intervention from the University of Granada, Spain, Laura has worked in various educational projects in Spain, Bolivia and Norway

Mirka oversees the project-based learning pedagogy for the primary section. Originally from the Czech Republic, with a B.A. in Biology and a minor in Education, she has also completed Outdoor Education Leadership Training.

With over twenty years of experience teaching in Germany, Alexandra tutors our 7-10 year olds in Mathematics and Project Based Learning Fields

Originally from Greece, Nina moved to the Algarve in 2024. She has a degree in Economics and Sustainable Development (specializing in Education) from Harokopia University of Athens.

Marian Dohm, originally from Germany, is the lead educator for our teens. He teaches social studies, and heads the  apprenticeship program.

With an MBA & an MEd (Harvard), Wendy is our teen educational program developer and beloved Math teacher. Her emphasis lies in encouraging students to explore their individual identities within the context of community.

Portuguese, but raised in Montreal, Canada, Mike specialised in Systems Biology and has done biomedical research with a variety of companies and Harvard Medical School. He is thrilled to share his passion, knowledge and enthusiasm and hopes to spark curiosity for this fascinating subject.

After traversing the world on a bicycle, Cornwall native Holly settled in Portugal in 2016 together with husband Dave and their two daughters.

Tunje, from Switzerland, first moved to Portugal in the mid 1980s. She manages all things financial and administrative for the association.
